2014 Forest Lake Camp Fall Festival

2014 Fall Fest

Fall is a time to gather together with friends and family. Thankfully at Forest Lake, our friends become our family and we hold many opportunities to join together for fun.  This past weekend we hosted out first annual Fall Festival at camp. It was an incredible coming together of so many facets of Forest Lake.

2014 Fall FestWe were joined by current campers, in both our junior and senior camps from both boys’ and girls’ camp. Representatives from Family Camp, prospective families and newly enrolled families all came out to enjoy the afternoon with us at FLC.  Four of our staff made the journey as well, including our camp nurse, Rhonda, along with her 11-year old son (Marshall), waterfront Ben, Elyse and Emily!

It was an incredible turn out and the perfect way to spend a fall afternoon. Children enthusiastically dug into pumpkins, played touch football on the girls softball field, toured camp on a hayride pulled by Gary Confer, and devoured sugar donuts and gallons of cider. We kept a fire slowly burning to warm us as the sun came in and out of clouds and people gathered to share stories of camp life and to become better acquainted with one another. We look forward to making this an annual event and love nothing more than when camp is filled with the smiles and laughter and chatter of others. Thank you to all who came out. Mark your calendar for February 21st as we will gather again for a traditional Winter Carnival at camp. No matter the season or the weather, FLC opens its doors to its families. We hope to see you soon!

Hear what some of our Fall Festival participants had to say about the day:

“The girls had such a nice time. Madalyn remarked after that it was the first time she carved a pumpkin completely by herself, and how she looks forward to trying other new things independently at camp next summer.”- Parent

“Our family really enjoyed seeing the camp during Fall Festival. Our daughter, Brynn, is usually shy but within minutes she was plaything tetherball with Lilly and picking out her bunk for the summer in Cabin 1 with Gene. She met many new friends over the course of a few hours. We felt like we found the perfect ‘summer home’ for our daughter.”– Prospective Parent

“I hadn’t seen Forest Lake’s fall beauty since September 2008 or so. The warm colors and still vibrant feeling coupled with the noticeable vacancy was something else. Forest Lake has always been a home to me, and driving down the camp road brought back so many indescribable memories and emotions. I was grinning from ear to ear as I always do about FLC. It was such a rejuvenating day – allowing a peaceful end to this summer’s chapter, but writing the first words of the next chapter in my Forest Lake book.”– Emily Fagan (FLC Staff)
