Health Services

At Forest Lake Camp, the health and safety of your child is always our priority. We recognize that having your child away from home when they are sick or injured is a trying moment for a parent. For those campers with daily medication or medical support needs, our nursing staff is here to insure they receive the same consistent care they would receive at home.

24/7 Care

Should a child become ill or accidentally get injured, we have an 8-bed infirmary with a resident nurse on site 24 hours a day. Our resident nurse works with a support team of 1-2 additional nurses to insure continuity of care whether for daily medications or a short term illness or injury. The nurse will be in the infirmary during posted hours and is on-call at all other times.

Upfront Medical Checks

The process of insuring your child’s health begins immediately upon their arrival to camp when our nurses will perform a health check as part of your check-in process. During that check-in the nurse will check for the general health of your camper and any daily medications can be discussed at that time. All daily medications, both prescription and non-prescription, will be administered by our camp nurses.

Tick, Mosquito and Poison Ivy Prevention

Each year we go through a very thorough review process which includes analyzing every aspect of the Forest Lake Camp experience. It has always been and will continue to be our commitment to improve on our already high standards and make the next year better than the last.

With this in mind, we have partnered with Ivy Oaks Analytics, a public health company based out of Pennsylvania that specializes in the control of ticks, mosquitoes, and poison ivy at large campuses, parks and summer camps. Ivy Oaks works with over 175 top summer camps.

Although ticks, mosquitoes, and poison ivy have never been a major issue at Forest Lake Camp we feel very strongly that Forest Lake Camp has an obligation to our camp community to do everything in our power to reduce the risks associated with them.

Their process includes ongoing tick population measurements, landscape modification, natural control methods and more. Forest Lake Camp is proud to be one of the few camps nationally with an advanced public health standards certification by implementing this program.
