One quality that makes Forest Lake Camp so unique is its wonderful, caring and professional staff. We couldn’t be more proud of all that our counselors bring to our camp community each and every summer. We look forward each month to introducing you to our new and returning counseling staff. Over the past few months we have been sharing what our 2016 staff have been up to since the summer ended. In our January newsletter we are excited to share a few NEW staff for summer 2017!
What is your name? Olivia Brown
Where are you from? I’m from Newcastle, North East of England
What activities will you be involved in this summer? What excites you about this? I will hopefully be involved in a little bit of everything! There will be an emphasis on helping with riding but I can’t wait to assist in all of the sport options, and maybe some art and music. This excites me because every day will be different and so much fun, and I might even try something new myself.
What three words best describe you? Organized, light-hearted and caring
What are you most excited to share with your campers this summer? A bit of English grit and determination, as well as some amazing new experiences for me and the campers both… and some camp fire singing!
If you could be any kind of food, what kind of food would you be and why? I would be an olive because they are small, fun and usually stuffed with some other food (just like me! Olive is also my nickname…)
If you could have any kind of super power, what would your super power be and why? I would be able to control time, so I could have more time to have fun, do more with my life and most importantly sleep!
What about coming to FLC are you most excited about? I am really looking forward to forming close bonds with both the other camp staff, and the many campers that will come through. I can’t wait to experience camp life as a whole, and have fun doing activities I love. I have also never been to the USA before so experiencing a different culture is exciting.

What is your name? Kayla Cooley
Where are you from? Pass Christian, Mississippi
What activities will you be involved in this summer? I will be the 4-week Camp Nurse.
What excites you about this? I absolutely love Pediatric Nursing and anything that involves outdoor activities. Being able to experience camp life while doing a job that I love is truly giving me the best of both worlds and that excites me tremendously!
What three words best describe you? Active, Compassionate, and Adventurous
What are you most excited to share with your campers this summer? I am so excited to share with campers experiences from my collegiate basketball career, high school teaching/coaching days, and school nursing stories. These experiences will be shared through stories told with a strong southern accent coupled with Southern Hospitality from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
If you could be any kind of food, what kind would you be and why? I would most definitely be a King Cake. Living on the MS Gulf Coast and close to New Orleans has afforded me the opportunity to experience the Mardi Gras season every Spring. King Cake parties bring family and community members together to celebrate the season of Mardi Gras with its Krewe parades and festivals. Being a King Cake would allow me this time of celebration all year long!
If you could have any kind of super power, what would your super power be and why? I would want the super power where I possess the ability to speak and understand all languages. This super power is known as omnilingualism. I absolutely love to travel and this would allow me to travel anywhere in the world and instantaneously understand the native language. This would be so awesome!
What about coming to FLC are you most excited about? I am excited to meet and work with an array of people from all over the world. Having the opportunity to grow as a pediatric nurse through caring for the FLC family is truly a blessing. And… What could be more exciting than spending the Summer outdoors on Forest Lake in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains?!? Hurry up and get here, June 2017!
