What is your name? Luke Stewart
How many summers have you been coming to FLC? This will be my second summer at FLC!
Why do you return to FLC each summer? I return because I wake up everyday missing the fact I haven’t got a day planned at camp with my co-counselors and campers.
What do you teach at FLC and what do you love about these things? I teach soccer and I love the fact that I can run fun and educational sessions with campers who haven’t played the sport before and watch them fall in love with it.
What has FLC taught you about yourself or the world we live in? FLC has taught me that life is meant to be spent happy and a day clouded with stress and worry is a day wasted. The world is a beautiful place with beautiful people, we just need to gaze away from our screens to realize this.
What three words best describe you? Fun, Loud and Positive
What is one of your favorite camp memories? My favorite memory was our overnight with my cabin at the new lean-to. It was the first time we could really bond as a group outside of our cabin and to watch everyone laughing and joking whilst making s’mores. This memory still makes me smile today.
What do you miss most about your time at FLC during the off-season? I miss the people, the place, the cheers, the waterfront, Color Wars, SPEV, the wildlife, the stars, the atmosphere…I could go on forever!

Why do you return to FLC each summer? I’m returning to FLC because it is amazing! I work in a team with an amazing group of people and I get to see campers that come back every year and all these people make me want to be back at camp right now!
What do you teach at FLC and what do you love about these things? I’m Head of the Arts program at camp and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I get to draw and paint and build and make all sorts of things everyday and help children to express themselves through art to create something that they are really proud of and can’t wait to show their friends and family.
What has FLC taught you about yourself or the world we live in? FLC has taught me that I can be brave and that I can help others to be brave too. And no matter what we have to do, us girls can do anything together! GIRL POWER!
What three words best describe you? Bubbly, Cheerful and Arty!
What is one of your favorite camp memories? This one night at camp in first session, when all of Saranac cabin had got back, we found a mysterious note written on the floor… we don’t know who had done it and it’s still a mystery today, but it wasn’t me! Or was it…
What do you miss most about your time at FLC during the off-season? Everything! I miss the sunshine (because we don’t get much being here in the UK!) I miss the laughs and the smiles of all the wonderful campers, I miss swimming in the lake everyday and I miss my FLC family!

How many summers have you been coming to FLC? This will be my second year and I am really excited to spend another summer as part of the FLC family.
Why do you return to FLC each summer? Explain! I love spending the summer in the Adirondacks. FLC is such a unique place, surrounded by amazing people. The friendships made are so special and it is great to spend the summer working with children and doing what you love. It’s hard to imagine spending the summer anywhere else.
What do you teach at FLC and what do you love about these things? Last year I ran the pottery program at camp and this year I have also taken on the role as Girls LIT camp counselor. I am really excited to help with the LIT program this summer and I can’t wait to get back to the pottery shed and get creative with the campers!! I also love waterfront, so I am looking forward to being a lifeguard and spending more time by the lake.
What has FLC taught you about yourself or the world we live in? FLC has taught me to be more independent as an individual. It has helped me to step out of my comfort zone on many occasions, and really push myself. I am thankful for all the opportunities that FLC has given me and I can’t wait to see what I experience and learn this summer.
What three words best describe you? Enthusiastic, Fun, Caring
Share one FLC memory you have had with your campers. One of my favorite memories at camp was my first Junior Cabin overnight. I loved sitting by the campfire and looking over the lake at New Beach. As a cabin, we decided to do a compliment circle and each took turns to compliment everyone around the fire. It was so lovely to hear the campers say nice things to each other and it felt like everyone bonded together as a cabin.
What do you miss most about your time at FLC during the off-season? I miss everyone and everything about camp! Especially the little things, like waking up to a cabin full of energetic campers or the singing and dancing around at every meal. I miss the campfires and spending time at the stables or down at WF. I can’t wait to return for my second summer!!
