Reflections from 2015 LIT Camper Alyssa Faulk

2015 LIT Alyssa FaulkAt first we are all, or at least most of us are, nervous and cautious when we first come to camp. A few days after we arrive, we slowly adjust and little by little we find ourselves in the comfortable and warm environment that Forest Lake shares with us. As we fall into the routine we form connections and strong bonds with our fellow campers. We are all so different in our own incredibly unique ways but we still bond.

This past summer may have been my first year at camp but I’ve never felt so at home. My friends, cabin mates and counselors have helped me in ways I can’t even begin to describe. They have all helped me find myself and for that I’m thankful.

Thank you to all the junior campers, who fill the days with endless laughter and jokes. Thank you for reminding what it is like to be young and to make the best out of everything.

Thank you to the senior campers who make life interesting every day. For accepting people the way they are, and helping them feel comfortable. For helping us all adjust within the Forest Lake Family.

Thank you to all the counselors who keep the days going with wonderful activities. From basketball with Elyse, to the fun times at

Waterfront. Every little thing that the counselors do make the days so much more enjoyable. It’s amazing to witness it all and be apart of it all.

Thank you to the head counselors who take charge and help to make the days run smoothly. Camp wouldn’t be the same without you. You are always there, more than happy to help campers who are feeling down, just because you want to see the smiles on their faces, to see them happy.

During my time at camp last summer I made amazing friendships and I tried so many new things. That’s all I could ever ask for. Thank you!
