Meet some of our new 2018 counselors!
Maddie Brew
Hi my name is Maddie Brew I’m from Westchester, New York and this will be my 8th summer at camp, but first on staff! I’m most excited for this summer because I love camp and cannot wait for another chance to be back at my favorite place. Forest Lake has the unique ability to push everyone out of their comfort zones and provide unforgettable memories as well as lifelong friends. Some of my favorite memories have been not only the experiences that are unique to the Adirondacks like hiking high peaks, but also experiences unique to Forest Lake like standing on tables and benches cheering after meals. After 7 summers as a camper I am really excited to be able to share my love of camp with campers and help them have the same amazing experience that I did. There is no place else that allows everyone to have a different amazing experience every year while maintaining the traditions that everyone knows and loves. I’m counting down the days until we’re back!!
Christopher Wood
Hi my name is Christopher Wood. I am currently in my third year studying Football Coaching and Performance at the University of Chichester, UK. I have played football for my local grassroots club Petts Wood FC where a highlight was reaching the London Cup Final. I currently coach for Brighton and Hove Albion FC within their talent pathway. With my enthusiastic manner and passion for soccer, I look forward to teaching children new skills and organising games and activities at FLC.
Heading up Drama this year are Jade Melia and Jake Turanski
Jade has been acting since a young age and having decided to pursue it as a career when she left school she went on to study a two-year national diploma in performing arts before attending a three year course in Liverpool John Moores University where she graduated in 2015 with a BA Hons. in Drama.
Taking an interest in stage management while studying, Jade has been working with LHK Productions for the past 4 years working closely on producing the professional Pantomimes as well as working as stage manager / drama director for the youth musicals within LHK Youth Theatre.
Jake has been acting since the age of 10 when he appeared in his first musical theatre performance, since then his love of acting has only increased. All throughout high school he found himself participating in as many performances as possible and during his final 2 years of school he started attending drama classes 5 days a week along with assisting in, and directing a number of plays and helping many younger students throughout the years.
Jade and Jake are both extremely excited to be working together this Summer at FLC and meeting all the talented children they will be directing. They promise this summer will be a fun one for all full of amazing memories!
