Thank You to all those who joined us at the Mulvoy’s home in Harrison, NY on January 18th. It was so wonderful to reconnect with our veteran families and introduce prospective families to our FLC community. Although it was a cold and wet day the energy and spirit that pervaded throughout the Mulvoy’s home was truly emblematic of how it feels each day at camp. We had a wonderful afternoon sharing in stories, watching our summer slideshow together and making owl cupcakes! It was clear at the end of the event when exchanging byes and giving hugs and high fives how much we all value and enjoy one anothers company.
Read on to hear a couple of comments from our participants.
“I always enjoy being at and watching my daughters at FLC events. FLC truly is their home away from home. The depth of caring and friendship is palpable. I feel real comfort in knowing that if I have to “give up” my girls for the summer, at least they are in an environment that is exactly what I would choose for them — safe, nurturing, freeing to be themselves and try new things, and an incredible space to grow. Because of this, the FLC community has become our extended family.’ –Karen Brew, Mother of two veteran FLC campers
“Even though I have not been to camp yet, I see FLC so far as a nice, friendly, community full of people who respect each other for who they are. I think people at FLC are all connected in some way or another as family or friends. I think I will never want to leave.” –Ava, New 2015 Camper
“From the moment I spoke with Gene a few months ago, I knew FLC was going to be a special place. At the Open, The Mulvoy’s couldn’t have been more gracious to host all of us! The parents and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and honest. You can tell they are all extremely proud to be part of the FLC community. Community is very important to our family, and we know that Ava will flourish in her new environment at FLC this summer.”– Marnie, mother of 1st year camper
