Meet some of our 2015 Leaders in Training

Screen Shot 2015-02-25 at 12.25.55 PMAt FLC we help campers develop leadership by providing experiences that challenge and stretch their sense of self. We feel it is very important that our campers end each summer feeling a bit more confident and self-ensured than they did  at the beginning of the summer. Our  Leaders in Training (LIT) session, for our 16 year old campers, is a program designed to allow our oldest campers to test what they have learned and strengthen their leadership compass. This summer we have another very strong group of LIT’s . We are very excited to team up with this group of LIT’s and support them as they help us create a remarkable summer experience for our younger campers.  Since our LIT’s are such an important part of our leadership team at FLC, we thought we would introduce a few to you.

Allysa FAlyssa Faulk:
1.   How long have you attend FLC? One. 2014 was my first year as a camper.
2.  What is one thing that makes you REALLY excited about joining the LIT team this summer? While I haven’t exactly learned anything physically, I am happy to say that I learned how to open myself up to others and trust. Before camp I wasn’t exactly a social butterfly, in fact I was quite the opposite; socially awkward some would say. However, FLC taught me that it’s not so bad to open yourself up and get to know others, even form everlasting friendships.
3.  What is one special thing you hope to share with the FLC community this summer as an LIT? I hope to share my empathic abilities, of sorts. I’ve always been someone that many people have thought to be easy to confide to. Whether it be about their hopes and dreams, or scary nightmares and I love being able to help people and be there for them. To help them see past the nightmares at the finer things in life, to help, even if it’s only a little.
4.  What is one thing that makes you REALLY excited about joining the LIT team this summer?
One thing? There are many things… But to start off; the fact that I get to go back to a place that I love. To be surrounded by people who accept you for who you are with no questions asked. Another small thing to point out about it, is that I get to be a part of something bigger.
