Meet Our Newest Leaders at Forest Lake Camp!

Ok, well, they’re not “new”, as you all know them! But we are thrilled to welcome two remarkable leaders who will begin their NEW roles starting this season: Matt Laytham, our new Director of Rentals and Events, and Alvaro “Alvi” Baquero, stepping into the role of Assistant Director.

Alvi Baquero has been part of the Forest Lake Camp family since the age of nine. Over 15 summers, he has transitioned from a camper to Head Counselor, and most recently, Co-Director of our Family Camp. Known for his dynamic blend of fun and discipline, Alvi has become a beloved figure at FLC. His contributions, like the lively “Alvi’s Crazy Trivial Red & Blue Game” and campfire classics such as “I am a Music Master,” are staples of our camp culture. As Assistant Director, Alvi aims to preserve our cherished traditions while ensuring they evolve to embrace inclusivity and diversity.

Matt Laytham, recipient of the 2023 Owl Award for his lasting impact at FLC, brings his unwavering dedication to his new role. His leadership is expected to further enhance our offerings and enrich the camp experience for all attendees. Matt’s innovative approach and commitment to excellence will undoubtedly influence every aspect of camp life. And don’t worry, Matt will still be leading the charge during our summer camp as Head Counselor up on Boys’ Camp! (Yes, he does it all!)

Please join me in congratulating Alvi and Matt on their new roles. We are excited to watch them bring their visions to life, ensuring that every season at Forest Lake Camp is memorable and transformative.
