FLC Camper, Marco reflects on his experience at FLC!

5B5A7670What is your name? My name is Marco Dacco.

Where are you from? I am from Italy, but I live in London.

How did you learn about FLC? I heard of FLC through a friend of my mother’s who lives in NYC.

What is your favorite activity at camp? My favorite activity is soccer. Playing soccer at FLC is really great!  The pitches are amazing and the coaches really helped me to improve my game.

Do you have any advice for a new camper? At first you might feel a bit scared, but after ten minutes of chatting around with your new friends in the cabin you will already feel right at home.

Why do you come back to FLC each summer? I enjoy playing all sports and trying new activities like archery, riflery and baseball. I also love camp fire and singing out loudly in the mess hall during meals.  My overnight with my cabin was definitively one of my most favorite activities at camp. We learned how to start a fire and cook our own meals.

What are you looking forward to this coming summer? I am looking forward to meeting new campers and being back with my friends from last year.  I also can’t wait  to be back with the fantastic counselors!

Reflections from Marco and Luigi’s parents:

Our two children, Luigi and Marco, have spent the past few summers at FLC and we are delighted by the results. For both of them the weeks spent there are, to use their words, “the best time of my life”. Even more importantly, they return from camp more mature and grown up. It is often the case that kids mature more during the summer as they are away from the day to day routine, but in our case, their three weeks there pointed to a real jump forwards. Our first son Luigi was a bit too shy and he managed to break the ice at camp and gained greater confidence in socializing when back at school. Our second son Marco was instead a little too confident in himself and came back with more respect for others and he is now much more open to listening to other’s point of view. My wife and I were both impressed and somehow speechless to see that such noticable growth in their behavior was possible in such a short period of time. Even our youngest daughter noticed that!  Both boys managed to do that while having fun, learning several new sports, making a lot of new friends and getting their first exposure to American culture. We are extremely grateful to FLC for their work with our two children and we are looking forward to sending our little daughter very soon! -Roberto and Cecile Dacco, parents of Marco and Luigi
